asoma 2019–
The successor to odot, asoma adds computation to OpenSoundControl: the state of a running program can be paused on a laptop and resumed on a microcontroller, so that a heterogeneous collection of cameras, computers, sensors, and embedded hosts can be treated as a single instrument. Independent of his work at Cycling ’74; first public release planned for 2027.

odot 2007–
A programming environment for OpenSoundControl, co-designed with Adrian Freed at CNMAT. MacCallum wrote the C implementation, the expression language, and much of the Max library. odot provides a layer between OSC nodes so that they can be composed together dynamically: instruments, sensors, cameras, and computers that share no clock, native language, or vendor can be treated as a single system. In continuous use since 2007, and taught at UC Berkeley, the Synthesis Center at Arizona State University, and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

Tools for polytemporal music 2008–2015
Software for composing and performing music in independent, smoothly varying tempos: Timewarp, and tempo-curving tools developed with Jean Bresson. Used in Aberration, …delicate texture of time…, Hyphos, and Limn, in works by Edmund Campion, and in several works with Teoma Naccarato. The click tracks for each piece are on its page.
Camera Cage 2018–
The performance system built with Teoma Naccarato for the III and Im/mediations works: biosensing, multi-camera live-feed and live-stream video, and networked audio. At its largest, for III: Once Returned, 12 cameras, 9 computers, and 3 networks running continuously for 72 hours.
