Twelve years of making work with a choreographer taught me that friction, between artistic intuition and technical constraint, between a body and a computational system, between a composer and a dancer who mean different things by “together,” usually marks the place where a new idea is trying to appear.

Interstitial Listening 2016–

Interstitial Listening ↗ interstitial-listening.com is a somatic listening practice, made with Teoma Naccarato, built on a simple but impossible task: to synchronize movement, sound, or breath with an unpredictable metronome. In its first years it was called Relational Listening. Supported by two DIS-TANZ-SOLO grants, in 2021 and 2022.

The Provocations Project 2018–

The Provocations Project ↗ provocations.online is a series of open calls for provocations, to spur dialogue about differences that matter within and between cultures of research in the arts, humanities, and sciences. Launched with Teoma Naccarato in 2018 and coordinated since 2019 with Jessica Rajko. Each call stays open indefinitely: provocations are posted online as they arrive, and contributors are invited into curated video conversations and roundtable discussions.

Reading group on race, colonialism, and diaspora in dance and computing 2021–2022

A virtual reading and discussion group at the intersection of dance and computing, co-led with Teoma Naccarato and Jessica Rajko alongside the Provocations Project, emphasizing transversal, diffractive approaches to reading across disciplinary and cultural boundaries. Three readers presented the same three texts over three weeks, in rotation.
